14k Yellow Gold Mother Cabrini Medal Charm (23X15MM)

Patron saint of immigrants and hospital administrators, Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, (July 15, 1850 – December 22, 1917), also called Mother Cabrini, founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart, a major support to the Italian immigrants to the United States. Frances was born in Lombardi, Italy in 1850. At 18, she desired to become a nun, but had poor health. She helped her parents until their death, and then worked on a farm with her brothers and sisters. One day a priest asked her to teach in a girls' school and she stayed for six years. Then at the urging of Pope Leo XIII, she came to the United States with six nuns in 1889 to work among the Italian immigrants. Frances founded an orphanage, which is located in West Park, New York today and is known as Saint Cabrini Home. She also founded 67 institutions throughout the United States, South America and Europe. She is listed in the National Women's Hall of Fame.
