St. Gerard Majella (April 6, 1726 – October 16, 1755), was an Italian lay brother of the Redemptorists, a missionary order dedicated to preaching the word of God to the poor. He worked as a gardener, sacristan, tailor, porter, cook, carpenter, and clerk of works. He is the patron saint of expectant mothers explained by this story: Gerard visited the Pirofalo family and accidentally dropped his handkerchief. One of the daughters spotted it moments after he’d left the house, and ran after Gerard to return it. “Keep it,” he said, “You may need it someday." Years later when the girl, now married, was on the verge of dying in childbirth, she asked for the handkerchief to be brought to her. Almost immediately the pain disappeared and she gave birth to a healthy child. Gerard died at age 29 of tuberculosis. In 1977, St. Gerard's Chapel in St. Lucy's Church (Newark, New Jersey) was made a national shrine. Other churches dedicated to him are in New York, New Zealand, England and Canada. He was featured on an Italian 45-eurocent postage stamp in 2005. His Feast Day is October 16.
It’s fitting this is finely crafted in silver, since the spiritual meaning of silver symbolizes strength, spirit, divinity, wisdom and purity. This can be worn as a symbol of your faith as your favorite fashion statement. Sterling silver is reflective and mirrors the soul, it is said to bring calm and balance to the wearer. Shaman believe silver offers protection from negativity and evil; it is known as the metal of love and healing. This is 'earth friendly' as it is made with the Refined Karats system certified by Scientific Certification Systems' (SCS) strict environmental, social, and supply requirements.
The rising price of silver makes this a great investment.
