St. Benedict, the Father of Western monasticism and twin brother of Saint Scholastica, is considered the patron of monks, students and speleologists (cave explorers). He was born in Nursia, Italy and educated in Rome. He decided to live the life of a hermit and settled at the mountainous Subiaco, where he lived in a cave for three years. Benedict founded twelve communities for monks at Subiaco, Italy before moving to Monte Cassino to build the monastery that was to be the birthplace of Western monasticism. He organized the monks into a single monastic community and wrote his famous Rule. It was to affect spiritual and monastic life in the West for centuries to come.

Rhodium is hypoallergenic; it is a liquid metal which is extracted from platinum after being pulled from the mine. It makes a hard, smooth finish; it creates a gorgeous white on the gold giving it a two-tone effect and a very deep shine and is hypoallergenic.

It is fitting this special piece is crafted of gold; it is said spiritual energy and power are activated and awakened by wearing or praying with gold. Gold represents the spiritual treasure gained by transforming the spirit; gold also represents love in the Bible. Optimistic and positive, gold adds richness and warmth to everything with which it is associated. It illuminates and enhances. Gold represents perfection. This is 'earth friendly' as it is made with the Refined Karats system certified by Scientific Certification Systems' (SCS) strict requirements. Proudly made in America with a green process of ethically, environmentally and socially responsible production processes of water, waste and energy management; the gold is from 100 percent recycled Karats.

The rising price of gold makes this a great investment.
