14k Yellow Gold Mother Teresa Medal Pendant (21X19MM)

Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu, commonly known as Mother Teresa (26 August 1910 – 5 September 1997), was born in what is now Macedonia, and at age 18 joined the Sisters of Loreto Convent in Ireland. Upon taking her religious vows, she chose the name Teresa. Already fluent in the Albanian and Serbian languages, she learned English, Bengali and Hindi. She became a citizen of India and spent her life in service to the poor and the sick. She founded the Missionaries of Charity whose members must adhere to the vows of chastity, poverty, obedience and give "wholehearted free service to the poorest of the poor." They operate hospices and homes for people with HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis; soup kitchens; dispensaries and mobile clinics; children's and family counselling programs; orphanages; and schools. Mother Teresa was the recipient of many honors and awards, including the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize.
