14k Yellow Gold St. Martha Medal Charm (23X15MM)

Martha is the patron saint of servants, housewives, cooks, waiters, hotel keepers and laundry workers, all stemming from her hospitality to Jesus who apparently was a frequent guest at Martha's home in Bethany, a small village two miles from Jerusalem. She was the sister of Saint Lazarus and Saint Mary of Bethany. In the accounts of Luke and John, it is written that when Martha complained to Jesus that Mary sat and listened to him while she was left to do all the work, Jesus said that Mary was not to be admonished for her contemplative behavior. Later, at the tomb of her brother Lazarus, she pronounces those profound words of faith which have come into our funeral liturgy: "I have come to believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, he who is to come into the world." After Jesus’s death, Martha traveled to France to preach, eventually died in Tarascon and is the patron saint of that city. Her Feast Day is July 29.
