St. Mark the Evangelist is the patron saint of notaries, lawyers, opticians, pharmacists, painters, secretaries, interpreters, prisoners, and people dealing with insect bites. He died a martyr, being dragged through the streets with a rope around his neck. After his death, sailors stole relics from his body and took them to Venice, Italy. Christians honored him by building St. Mark's Basilica there. His Feast Day is April 25.
