St. Benedict, the Father of Western monasticism and twin brother of Saint Scholastica, is considered the patron of monks, students and speleologists (cave explorers). He was born in Nursia, Italy and educated in Rome. He decided to live the life of a hermit and settled at the mountainous Subiaco, where he lived in a cave for three years. Benedict founded twelve communities for monks at Subiaco, Italy before moving to Monte Cassino to build the monastery that was to be the birthplace of Western monasticism. He organized the monks into a single monastic community and wrote his famous Rule. Seventy-three short chapters comprise the Rule. Its wisdom is of two kinds: spiritual (how to live a Christ centric life on earth) and administrative (how to run a monastery efficiently). It was to affect spiritual and monastic life in the West for centuries to come. He died at Monte Cassino on March 21 and was named patron protector of Europe by Pope Paul VI in 1964. His feast day is July 11.

It's fitting this is crafted of gold; it's said spiritual energy and power are activated and awakened by wearing or praying with gold. Gold represents the spiritual treasure gained by transforming the spirit; it also represents love in the Bible. This is earth friendly as it is made with the Refined Karats system certified by Scientific Certification Systems' (SCS) strict requirements. Proudly made in America with a green process of ethically, environmentally and socially responsible production processes of water, waste and energy management; this is from 100 percent recycled Karats.

The rising price of gold makes this, quite simply, a great investment all around.
