14k Yellow Gold St. Catherine Hollow Medal Pendant (19X19MM)

St. Catherine of Sweden is the patron saint of protection against miscarriage and abortion. She was born in 1331 to Saint Bridget of Sweden and Ulf Gudmarsson, Prince of Nericia. At the age of seven, Catherine was sent to Risberg Convent to be educated. She desired to remain in the convent to pursue a religious vocation, but was promised in marriage to German noble Eggard Lydersson von Kürnen. At age 13, the two were united in matrimony but both took a vow of perpetual chastity. They devoted themselves to a life of Christian perfection and active charity. Catherine accompanied her mother to Rome in 1349, and soon upon arrival heard news of her husband's death. During various pilgrimages, while caring for the poor and the sick, she counseled women who had suffered a miscarriage or illness during their pregnancy.
