14k Yellow Gold St. Thomas More Hollow Medal Pendant (21.3X18.7MM)

Thomas More is famous for his book “Utopia” about an ideal political system on a fictional island. He was an English lawyer who was elected to Parliament, and served as counselor and personal advisor to Henry VIII. Because More opposed Henry’s bigamous marriage to Anne Boleyn and refused to swear allegiance to the king as head of the Church of England, he was imprisoned, tried for treason and executed. His head was fixed upon a pike over London Bridge for a month, according to the normal custom for traitors. The epitaph on his tomb, which he chose himself, reads "No famous family, but of honest stock." His Feast Day is June 22.
