Rhodium Plated Sterling Silver Round Our Lady of Fatima Medal (18.5 MM)

In 1917, the Virgin Mary appeared for six consecutive months to three Portuguese shepherd children: Lucia dos Santos, and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto. When reports of the visions spread, thousands of people flocked to Fatima. The provincial administrator jailed the children for these disruptive events and they led the other prisoners in praying the rosary. At the last appearance on October 13 in front of 70,000 people, the Virgin Mary worked the great miracle of the sun, saying that on that day, ‘I am the Lady of the Rosary.’ Lúcia became a postulant at the Dorothean convent in Galicia and both the Marto siblings died in the Great Spanish Flu Epidemic. The tombs of the three are in the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima Basilica. Today pilgrimage to the site goes on all year round and additional chapels, hospitals and other facilities have been constructed. Her Feast Day is October 13.
